Greetings and Update

February 8th, 2007 · Comments Off

Hello everyone. It has been awhile since I wrote so I wanted to get a brief update on the web page so that you knew what was going on in SD 59.

First, I would like to mention that there will NOT be a Central Committee Meeting on the 22nd of February. I have been talking with the UDFL President and we are looking at planning a joint meeting / working event for March, so please stay tuned for details.

As for other things, we are currently working on fund raising money for many educational activities that we would like to have in the next year. Our focus is going to be to reach out to people in the Senate District and education anyone about the workings of Democracy and how to get involved. These events will hopefully be throughout the year and in many different locations throughout our area. If you would like to get involved, please feel free to contact me and I will get your name to the organizers.

As for the fund raising, I am hoping to get 100 people to donate $50 each (the amount of the political campaign refund program in MN) so that we can have an operating budget of $5,000 for the year. This will allow us to provide these educational programs, operate our local party unit and plan and execute the Precinct Caucus’ and the District Convention. If you would like to help out with any amount, please click on the “Donate” button on the top of the page.

Well, that is it for now, more to come.
Thanks
Dan

ELECTION DAY - NOVEMBER 7th

October 17th, 2006 · Comments Off

Election Day is quickly approaching. We have some great races going on throughout this state and we need to make sure that all SD 59 voters get to the polls on November 7th. To help in facilitating all that is going on in the district there will be a Central Committee Meeting on Thursday, October 26th (See the events calendar for details). This meeting will be your chance to sign up with campaigns and get involved in GOTV efforts throughout our district. I hope that everyone is excited about the DFL taking back the MN Legislature and Congress. But let us not forget all of the other state-wide races that could easily be decided on how well SD 59 DFL’ers GET OUT THE VOTE.

Welcome.

May 30th, 2006 · Comments Off

Well, this is my first post to any blog. I have never had one – so let’s see what may come of this adventure that I am embarking on into cyberspace.

May is over. This coming weekend is the County DFL Convention with the State DFL Convention not too far behind and as we head into the height of the campaign season with lit drops, door-knocks, rallies and parades our lives will continue to get busier – but our goal is clear. We need to do everything that we can (whether that be 5 hours a month or a $50 financial contribution) to ensure that DFL Endorsed candidates prevail in the elections this year.

As party members it is our duty to support the voted on endorsements of our party and to work for those candidates who have worked so very hard to receive that endorsement. Our process is strong and fair. We need to ensure, through our public support, that it remains so. We cannot afford to pit Democrats against Democrats year after year. We end up spending resources that could be used to defeat Republicans, push for a socially responsible government and work even harder to get-out-the-vote. We have a lot of work to do and limited resources to do that work. We must remain focused and determined to win this fight.

So, I welcome you to participate this year. I welcome you to get involved and to bring others with you. I welcome you to enjoy the rewards of our labor come November 7th, when Democrats will sweep the elections and start bringing common sense back to our government. I welcome you and I thank you for all that you do.

Daniel J DuHamel
Chair, SD 59 DFL
